Selma, Foxcatcher, Weekend Picks

With these two movies, we’ve reviewed all the Oscar-nominated best picture movies. Selma’s first. We naturally start with the obligatory having to talk about talking about the movie. But that aside, how’s the actual movie?

Foxcatcher’s next. Which main actor delivered the best performance of the three? Does the reaction to a manipulative situation right true?

In weekend picks, Logan recommends The Americans and Suits. Bob gives everyone one more week to catch up on their Oscars homework, because next week’s our 2014 movies special episode(!).

American Sniper, Never Alone, Destiny, The Affair, Weekend Picks

We’re knocking down the few remaining Oscar nominated movies. This time it’s American Sniper up for review. Are its values too black and white? Can Bob get past the artistic license Clint Eastwood takes with the real life story?

Bob mini reviews a couple video games: the innovative indie Never Alone and the vast MMOFPS Destiny. Logan mini reviews Golden Globe winner(!) The Affair.

In weekend picks, Logan’s excited for the final season of Justified, and Bob gives the go-ahead for Selma and the complete Oscars best pic syllabus.

Special Episode: 2014 TV

Now that 2014 is over, we can finish our lists! Logan begins this special episode with his list of great 2014 TV shows, including a discussion of what makes a show great in this post-Golden Age of TV. Bob throws in with his favorite shows too.

Next is a lest of shows Logan loved, but that might not get the buzz they deserve. Looking for something new to watch beyond the old standbys? Check out this segment.

Finally, we talk about some shows we wish we’d seen but didn’t.

Inherent Vice, The Newsroom, Wild, Into the Woods, Weekend Picks

Inherent Vice gives us one of our favorite things: a movie review where we disagree! Why does it remind us of The Counselor? Is it worth the nearly two and a half hours?

Bob then mini reviews The Newsroom season 3 and, surprisingly, the movie Wild. Logan talks about Into the Woods.

In weekend picks, Logan recommends Parks and Recreation, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Man Seeking Woman. Bob wants to see Still Alice, but also can’t say no to Black Hat or American Sniper. Better stay tuned to Twitter for the final choice.

The Imitation Game, Assassin’s Creed: Unity, Louie, Mozart in the Jungle, Weekend Picks

Happy New Year! It’s Oscars homework time, and we watch and review The Imitation Game this week. Will it get any nominations? Is it anything like The Theory of Everything?

Lots of mini reviews: Bob hits us with Assassin’s Creed: Unity and Louie. Logan watched Amazon’s Mozart in the Jungle.

In weekend picks, TV is back with a vengeance. Logan recommends Girls, Togetherness, and Shameless. January is kind of dead for movies, though, so Bob leans toward catching up on Inherent Vice.

Big Eyes, The Gambler, The Interview, Homeland, Weekend Picks

Happy New Year! Wondering what to watch? We’ve got a ton of mini reviews to help you decide.

We start off with dual main mini reviews: Bob watched Big Eyes (how’s Tim Burton’s latest straight ahead directing work?), and Logan saw The Gambler (surprising, right?).

Bob also reviews The Interview. Did all the buzz lead to an enjoyable movie? And Logan gives his mini review of Homeland season 4. Where does it fall in the ranking of Homeland seasons?

In weekend picks, Logan mentions Downton Abbey and Galavant. Bob recommends we see either The Imitation Game or A Most Violent Year.
