Snowpiercer, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, Mitt, Suits, Weekend Picks

Even though it’s summer, Logan and Bob go indie again for this week’s movie, Snowpiercer. Original sci-fi? Post-apocalyptic thriller? Littl’a both? Of course the real question is, is it any good?

Bob pulls out three mini reviews. Does Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit make Bob forget about the Harrison Ford Jack Ryan flicks? How well does the bio doc Mitt walk the line of humanizing Mitt Romney and seeming too sanitized? And we got Logan’s take on the third season of Suits a while back–what does Bob think?

In weekend picks, Logan and Bob groan about the return of The Bridge and Ray Donovan, but they’re pumped about Masters of Sex coming back, and we’ll keep our eye on The Strain. You should be too!

Bob might be coming around on Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, but we might also reach back and watch Obvious Child or Begin Again. Follow us on Twitter to stay up to date.

They Came Together, Modern Family, Mr. Selfridge, Orange Is the New Black, Weekend Picks

Some strong (and opposing!) feelings about some of today’s TV and movies! They Came Together is a classic big-disparity review for us. Why did we disagree about the hyper-aware romcom satire?

Three mini reviews this week: Modern Family–is it still in peak form here after season 5, or is it following the Office’s trajectory? Bob likes Mr. Selfridge, but is it good enough for Logan to make an exception and watch some British TV? Where does Logan rank Orange Is the New Black among good TV on right now?

The weekend of the Fourth is a little light on TV and movie picks. But watch Drunk History if you’re into that, and, well, stay tuned to Twitter for our final movie pick.
